Martin Kerrigan is a highly-experienced information security and data protection adviser. Martin’s pragmatic and commercially-aware approach to information security management means he is able to work both at practitioner and board level with a wide range of organisations, from fast growing start-ups to large multinationals, government departments and public sector bodies.
Martin provides a range of cyber security and data protection assurance services to clients both in the public and private sectors. Martin acts as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for a number of clients, helping them to develop and implement cyber security strategies, formalising information security management systems and assisting them to obtain industry standard certifications such as ISO27001. Martin also leads a variety of consulting engagements, including controls reviews/audits and digital investigations into actual or suspected breaches of security.
Martin also advises clients on data protection issues, including monitoring their compliance with data protection and eprivacy legislation in the EU and the UK, developing and implementing data protection policies, conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and data breach incident investigations and assessments. Martin has been formally appointed as Data Protection Officer (DPO) for a number of clients.
Previously, Martin held a number of senior roles within IT and information security management in the public sector and central government in Ireland, where he was involved in designing and managing solutions for secure mobility and web application hosting, policy development, security reviews, audits, data protection and risk management.
Martin holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Engineering and an MSc in Digital Investigations (First class honours). In addition, Martin holds CISA and CISSP certifications, is a Certified Data Protection Practitioner and holds the Certificate in Data Protection Practice from the Law Society of Ireland. Martin was previously elected Chair of the Irish Information Security Forum.
