Nigel is regarded as the most experienced compliance professional in the UAE, with a regulatory career spanning over 40 years, dating back to when he was an early employee of the UK financial services regulator, the Securities and Investments Board ( “SIB” – now the Financial Conduct Authority).
Nigel has been based in the UAE for more than 18 years, and has advised a wide range of financial services businesses, including deposit-taking and lending institutions, broker/dealers, global and local fund and asset managers, and product distributors. He is currently an appointee to the UAE Public-Private Partnership Committee to combat Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing.
Before moving to Dubai, Nigel was the Head of Compliance for UBS Investment Bank in Switzerland and previously held similar positions at Bear Stearns International and Genera Re Financial Products. As one of the initial employees of the SIB, Nigel participated in shaping the regulatory system that is now in place in the UK.
Nigel began his career with Deloitte and Touche where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1982. Nigel is a graduate of the London School of Economics (1979) and was awarded an MBA with distinction from the London Business School in 1993.
