Portia Amato, Executive Director at Waystone, brings over 25 years of experience working in regulatory and compliance – from leading in-house compliance at investment and asset management firms to compliance consultancy roles. Her experience working both in-house and as a consultant provides for the delicate balance of required compliance advice and support while understanding the commercial needs of her clients.
She has worked extensively with investment advisers domestically and globally, covering all strategies, including private, hedge, crypto, real estate and credit fund managers, venture capital firms, exempt reporting advisers, robo advisers and traditional wealth managers.
Prior to joining Waystone, Portia was the US Practice Lead for Ocorian, responsible for growing the US regulatory and compliance efforts including creation of business strategy, delivery, business development and marketing. Prior to Ocorian she held consulting roles at a number of compliance consulting firms including IQEQ and Optima Partners. She started her career in-house building and supporting compliance programs for traditional wealth advisers as well as alternative investment managers.
Portia has studied at St. Peters College and Western International University for her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
