Sana Zafar has experience working within the financial sector since 2007, starting her career with HSBC Bank in London, thereafter, moving to BNP Paribas, where she spent six years working within the AML and Due Diligence team. Between 2014 and 2016, Sana worked for Credit Agricole CIB and Morgan Stanley, where she worked within the Financial Crime and Compliance team. Sana moved to the UAE in the same year, joining Samena Capital as the Group MLRO and Company Secretary. In 2021, Sana joined Equitativa Group as a Senior Compliance Officer and was the authorised CO/MLRO for the firm, before moving to Equiom Corporate Services (Middle East) Ltd as a compliance consultant.
Sana has been authorised by the DFSA as a Compliance Officer & MLRO for Prudential Category 3C licensed fund/asset management firms in the DIFC for the past seven years. During this time, Sana gained a wealth of knowledge of multiple jurisdictions’ regulatory frameworks, including the ADGM FSRA, UK FCA, Hong Kong SFC, Mauritius FSC and the Cayman Islands CIMA, as well as being part of managing a number of regulatory onsite risk assessments.
Sana has a Business Management degree from The University of Westminster Business School, London, in addition to an advanced certification in Anti-money Laundering from the International Compliance Association (ICA).
