Sethu is part of the consultancy team, based in the Dubai operation at Waystone and specialises in data protection, AML and compliance support services with a focus on the licensing and incorporation of new or existing entities within the Abu Dhabi Global Market (‘’ADGM”) and the Dubai International Financial Centre (“DIFC”).
In her current role as an outsourced Data Protection Officer (“DPO”), Sethu assists firms with the implementation of the DIFC Data Protection Law No. 5 of 2020 and its supporting regulations, identifying incompatible policies and procedures and assessing compliance throughout the firm.
As a specialist Compliance Associate, Sethu is responsible for ensuring that the company meets all relevant regulatory requirements and assist consultants with client file reviews and undertakes compliance monitoring programmes with detailed testing of a firm’s systems and controls, in order to identify weaknesses and provide recommendations for remediation where required.
Previously, Sethu was a Client Account Executive at Interactive Avenues, a digital media agency, where she serviced client accounts and implemented media strategies.
Sethu graduated from Swansea University, Wales (UK) with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management (BSc. Honours).
Recent work includes:
- Providing expert advice and information to clients on data protection obligations
- Assisting consultants and offering continuous support and guidance in Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and compliance including reviewing firms’ compliance manuals, policies, and procedures
- Undertaking compliance monitoring programmes for Category 3C and Category 4 firms within the DIFC and the ADGM
- Acting as a Data Protection Officer for firms in the DIFC.
